How to Find Your Glimmers
The more you notice glimmers, the better you become in shaping your nervous system to safety
Do you know what glimmers are? “Glimmers” is a buzzword that is trending these days.
Glimmers are the opposite of triggers. Glimmers are moments that act as cues for self-regulation and for soothing our nervous system. They are tiny moments where we can feel relaxed, safe, assured and connected. In contrast triggers cause us to feel threatened. When we are triggered badly, our nervous system becomes deregulated and our fight-flight-freeze response gets excessively activated.
For many who have undergone trauma or are still going through them, the nervous system has been programmed to lookout for triggers. However, it is crucial to realise that not just triggers, there can also be glimmers that occur in our lives. Unfortunately, glimmers often go unnoticed.
Why it matters: the more you start to notice the glimmers that are happening in your life, the better your nervous system becomes in shaping itself with a sense of safety and assurance. I’d like to invite you to find your glimmer moments!
